Homeschool Application Checklist

Interview

Once we've received your contact information and followed up through an email, we will schedule a call to conduct an interview. This is the best way to communicate what we have to offer and to see if AHS meets the desires and needs of your family.

ASI Internship and ASI Summer Institute

One of the distinguishing features of ASI is its training. Understanding the child as a person, the tools before the educator, the role of the teacher, and how to use the Method of a Lesson in the varied disciplines of study is essential in educating children in this life-giving approach. In order to participate in the Ambleside Home School community, one must attend the ASI Internship and the ASI Institute. Ideally, it is recommended that one should attend the Internship prior to the beginning of the school year, and the Institute before the commencement of the following school year.

Application Form Completed

The application must be completed with specific information regarding the child/children who will be homeschooled.

Assessments for Mathematics and Reading Fluency

Once we receive your application and have had a conversation with you, we will provide simple entrance assessments for the parent to administer to the child/children who will be enrolled in AHS. We will guide you in giving these assessments. Basically, each child will work on the written portion of the math assessment independently. You should skip any problems that contain information that hasn't been covered or the child is unfamiliar with. For the oral portion of the math assessment, the parent should read the directions and ask the student to respond orally; the parent writes the response or marks it as an error with an X. The assessments are purely for the purpose of identifying what the child knows, and their strengths and weaknesses. It is not a test. The parent should put the child at ease before the assessment by communicating this to them. The child is not necessarily expected to know the answer to everything on the assessments. Once the child has completed their work, please scan the documents and send them to Ambleside Home School: shannon.seiberlich@amblesideschools.com.
